Hi community, Am trying to do something of very helpful. I need to import an .MB file from maya 2012 to maya 2009 but when I try to import this file maya 2009 say " File read in 6 seconds. // Error: Error reading file. // .

is there a procedure or a plug in for fixing that issue??

Hi Parry, yes that you can, Just when you are in maya 2009 do an "open scene..." with dialog box and from that box check "ignore version" and It will work!

really intresting tips dude, and I've tested that work in all versions of maya:

for import files MA or MB from 2011 to 2009
for import files MA or MB from 2010 to 2009
for import files MA or MB from 2009 to 2008
for import files MA or MB from 2012 to 8.5
for import files MA or MB from 2012 to 4
for import files MA or MB from 2012 to 3
for import files MA or MB from 2010 to 2008

Hey i just wanna drop in and thanks for the suggestions… but there’s another quick and easy way, Export your file as Maya ASCII. I was using 2012 and had to go back to 2010. So this method worked. Hope this will help anyone who comes to see this topic.
