
In this demonstration we go through creating an helix and edit it until make a realistic screw threads in Maya 2011, but the function are the same since Maya 8.5. It includes:
- Making a primitive helix
- Set up the coils, height, width, radius, subdivision axis.
- delete the exteriors faces
- merge the closer vertex until to have an unique mesh
- fixing some edges on top for making the screw head
- Making of the screw head
- Fixing the bottom
- Apply a mia_material with brushed metal preset for doing a render test
- Render
The mesh will be light and clean:
